Southampton Signs ex-NPL Player!

Many congratulations to Rylee Wright, who has been signed by Southampton FC to their U14 academy on a year’s contract .

Rylee had been with NPLYFC for 4 years from U8s and at an early age it was clear he had speed, could use both feet and an eye for goal.

While at NPLYFC Rylee started to attract attention and was scouted by Brentford, Chelsea and QPR, where he did extra training over 3 years, gaining experience in each of their development programs.

At U12 Rylee moved to Staines Town to play in the Sunday league, during which time Southampton FC scouted him. He spent 6 months at their London and Staplewood centres, as well as continuing at QPR’s development centre. In March 2018 both clubs offered him a 6 week trial; it was a difficult decision but Rylee chose Southampton. After a successful trial (in which he scored against Liverpool and Fulham!) Southampton signed him.

It has taken Rylee a lot of time, effort and commitment to get to this fortunate position and he expects each year to bring new challenges.

Rylee and his family would like to say a big thank you to all involved with the running of NPLYFC, his old teammates and for all the happy memories shared along the way.

U13 Cosmos New Players

NPL Youth U13 Cosmos are looking for suitable players to play in the top division of the EBFA. Games are on Saturday mornings and the coaching sessions are held Wednesday 7pm to 8.30pm at Twickenham Academy. Please contact Antony at nplantony@gmail.com for more information.

Nice people at NPL support their coach!

Our U11 coach, Ali, had the misfortune of having his bike stolen last Tuesday from Teddington station whilst coaching the team. To help Ali, who bikes from South London twice a week for training and matches, the team parents had a whip round and with £20 each Ali has a new bike and a very strong lock.

If anyone sees a bright orange BTwin mountain bike around town please call 0798130856. We’d like the bike back as well.

Parents Week! (My Magic Sports Kit)

It is Parents week in Sport from 1st to 7th October!

This is “Parents’ week” for all involved in junior sport.  A video has been prepared in support of this in which a number of children speak about what can happen when parents are watching them play (a variety of) sports and how their (the parents) behaviour can affect the kids.  It is not specific to football.

The video is available at:
