Many congratulations to Rylee Wright, who has been signed by Southampton FC to their U14 academy on a year’s contract .Rylee had been with NPLYFC for 4 years from U8s and at an early age it was clear he had speed, could use both feet and an eye for goal.
While at NPLYFC Rylee started to attract attention and was scouted by Brentford, Chelsea and QPR, where he did extra training over 3 years, gaining experience in each of their development programs.
At U12 Rylee moved to Staines Town to play in the Sunday league, during which time Southampton FC scouted him. He spent 6 months at their London and Staplewood centres, as well as continuing at QPR’s development centre. In March 2018 both clubs offered him a 6 week trial; it was a difficult decision but Rylee chose Southampton. After a successful trial (in which he scored against Liverpool and Fulham!) Southampton signed him.
It has taken Rylee a lot of time, effort and commitment to get to this fortunate position and he expects each year to bring new challenges.
Rylee and his family would like to say a big thank you to all involved with the running of NPLYFC, his old teammates and for all the happy memories shared along the way.
